Helping children reach their goals

“After quarantining for a month, my youngest daughter (age 2) developed a strong stutter. I would see her squinting and gasping for words, her face contorted and yet unable to speak. Although she was young, her language skills were highly developed for her age, yet somehow she could not put all her thoughts into words. Worried, I reached out to Ms. Paloma who told me that we could wait to see if it was developmental or start sessions. I opted for sessions, and that was the best decision we ever made.

I was nervous on the first day as my daughter was so young, unsure about how she would handle the sessions, but in vain. Ms. Paloma is so wonderful with children - my daughter fell in love immediately, from that first time. She would comply during all the therapy exercises, everything to please Ms. Paloma, who she looked at adoringly. All my daughter could ask me was when we were going to have "class" again. She would walk into Ms. Paloma’s office and not even look back. Her progress was nothing short of miraculous. Even her pediatrician told me to commend Ms. Paloma for the rapid improvement in her speech.

Within 1 month her stutter was barely perceptible. At first, even Ms. Paloma thought it could have been a developmental leap, but not so. We took a week off for vacation and the stutter returned, although mildly, once again. Another couple of sessions and again she is much better. The most wonderful thing, however, is that Ms. Paloma gave her the tools to modify her speech and the awareness to do so, all while consciously maintaining her high self esteem. She "self corrects" using the strategies learned in therapy. Even throughout the pandemic she has been able to engage my daughter through virtual sessions, a feat that I thought impossible given her age.

I could not recommend Ms. Paloma any more highly. She is the most professional, thorough, empathetic and qualified therapist I have met. My children adore her, even the older one who has never had therapy. She is a wonderful therapist and wonderful person. But above all she has a magic touch with children. Every child that I know who does therapy with her adores her. Thank you for everything Ms. Paloma, we are so fortunate to have you in our lives!”

“My son received speech therapy under the care of Ms. Paloma. He was having issues with stuttering. Paloma employed fun and engaging activities to help him with his stuttering. My son would look forward to his sessions with Ms. Paloma. Ms. Paloma also keep me up to date on his progress and would also provide me with activities that I could use at home to help him. We are very pleased with the speech therapy provided by Ms. Paloma and her level of professionalism! Thank you very much Ms. Paloma!!”

“The first time we contacted Paloma was about 2 years ago, when our 3-year-old daughter started having some difficulties with speaking. It was a phone call only, but Paloma was very kind, answered all our questions, gave us a lot of peace of mind and did not even charge us for her time at that time, even knowing that it was not a short call. This last time, we contacted her about two months ago because our daughter needed him again and the change has been very positive. I highlight the fact that it has given us a lot of peace of mind, since as a mother, I was quite distressed with the situation. Paloma has responded to me with a lot of love every call and every message. My daughter is counting down the days to be able to have a new session with Ms Paloma and the change has been extraordinary. Paloma has a great advantage for being bilingual, she has understood perfectly when my daughter speaks to her and it is possible to do therapy in both languages. She is a very comprehensive therapist, not only limited to doing the day, but also emphasizes language issues as such, such as active listening, and body language. She is very patient, loving, creative, resourceful and also with excellent knowledge in her area. In conclusion, Paloma is an excellent therapist and person, for which we are grateful that life led us to her.

“Paloma began working with my son Jack when he was about 3 years old. Jack has severe apraxia and could only say “ma”. The progress he made while in therapy with Paloma can only be described as a miracle. Jack is now a social first-grader who does not stop talking. He loves telling people about animals, video games, and talking about geography. I truly don’t know where Jack would be now without Paloma’s intervention. I am forever grateful for her patience and expertise in helping Jack find his voice.”
